------------------------------------ CALL FOR PAPERS (You can also find the announcement at http://www.deec.uc.pt/~omni07/index_cviu.htm ) Computer Vision and Image Understanding Special Issue on Omnidirectional Vision, Camera Networks and Non-conventional Cameras Guest Editors: Joao P. Barreto, University of Coimbra, Portugal Tomas Pajdla, Czech Technical University, Prague, Czech Republic. Akihiro Sugimoto, National Institute of Informatics, Japan. Important dates (tentative): Manuscript Submission: February 15, 2008 First reviews to the authors: June 30, 2008 Revised manuscripts due: August 30, 2008 Final Accept/Reject Decisions: October 30, 2008 Expected Publication Date: Winter 2008 Summary: We are pleased to announce a special issue of the Computer Vision and Image Understanding Journal addressing the same topics as "OMNIVIS'2007 - The Seventh Workshop on Omnidirectional Vision, Camera Networks and Non-classical Cameras", that was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on the 21th of October, 2007. Contributions are sought on new and original research on any aspect of omnidirectional vision and camera networks, including novel sensor design, panoramic vision applications, and scalable algorithms for large-scale camera networks. The call for papers is open to every author independently of having participated or not in the workshop (see submission procedure). The Special Issue will focus on any aspect of networked, distributed, and omnidirectional Vision, as well as Vision by non-traditional cameras. Papers concerning new sensor design, modeling and calibration of omnidirectional cameras, or applications of panoramic vision are welcome. In addition contributions are sought for new and original research on problems associated with large-scale networks of cameras. Scope Areas of interest include, but are not limited to: - Omnidirectional cameras -calibration -radiometric issues -structure-from-motion -visual servoing -image processing -applications - Large and medium scale camera networks -camera deployment and distributed calibration -continuous calibration, e.g., of non-stationary camera networks -decentralized algorithms robust to node failures -applications: surveillance, tele-immersion, intelligent environments - Non-classical sensors -algorithms and calibration -novel, application-tailored designs Submission Procedure: The call for papers is open to every author independently of having participated or not in the workshop. The contributors of the best works of OMNIVIS'2007 are invited to submit a revised version of their articles. Authors who did not participate in the workshop, but that are developing new and original research in the field, are also strongly encouraged to submit their works. Every received article will be treated in the same grounds. All papers will be subject to a complete review process which will be carried out by three experienced researchers in the field. Papers should be full journal length versions following the guidelines set out by CVIU. All papers should be submitted via the CVIU web-site with Article Type ‘Special Issue: Omnidirectional Vision’ http://ees.elsevier.com/cviu/ Important Note: When submitting papers, the authors should select the specific article type indicated AND include a line in their cover letter as a failsafe [example: "This manuscript is submitted to the Special Issue on Omnidirectional Vision, Camera Networks and Non-conventional Cameras"]. Full author guides (Preparation of Manuscript, Copyright and Permissions, Author Inquiries, Submission of Manuscripts) and on-line submission links can be found from the above link. All papers will be peer reviewed following the CVIU reviewing procedures. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
