Call for Papers The 2nd IEEE International Workshop on Multimedia Analysis and Processing – IMAP08 URL: http://ivpl.ece.northwestern.edu/~zli/new_home/imap08-cfp.html St. Thomas, US Virgin Island, USA (to be hold in conjunction with IEEE ICCCN 2008 - http://icccn.org/icccn08/ ) August 4-7, 2008 Abstract: The rapid advances in computing, communication and storage technologies have heralded a new age of explosive growth in multimedia applications, such as online image and video repository, mobile TV and IPTV, video on demand, interactive multimedia game, video blogging, multimedia based social interaction. These applications open up new opportunities and present new challenges to the technologies in the area of multimedia computing architectures, audio/visual information processing, multimedia analysis and understanding, multimedia retrieval and mining, multimedia coding, communication and networking. In recent years, considerable amounts of research activities in both industry and academia have been devoted to these topics and a key piece of puzzle is to develop novel and effective approaches in modeling and analyzing, representing and understanding, encoding and distributing multimedia content, which will be the focus of this workshop. IMAP will provide an excellent forum for experts around the world to join together and to present their newest research results, exchange latest experiences and insights, and explore future directions in this important and evolving field. It aims at increasing the synergy between academic and industry professionals working in this area. The papers submitted to this workshop should focus on the state-of-the-art research in various important areas related to emerging technologies, standards and applications on analysis, processing, computing, and communication of multimedia information. The interested topics include but are not limited to: • Multimedia content analysis, representation, and understanding • Content, user, computation, and network aware media engineering • Multimedia indexing and retrieval • Multimedia processing for wireless sensor networks • Multimedia data mining and fusing • Multimodal signal processing • Multimedia summarization and abstraction • Emerging multimedia applications • Multimedia coding, streaming, and networking • Intelligent audio-video surveillance and other security-related applications • Content authentication, preservation, and digital rights management • Multimedia tools including authoring, analyzing, editing, and browsing • Multimedia security • Multimedia and multimodal user interfaces and interaction models Only original and unpublished paper will be considered. Prospective authors are invited to submit papers of no more than six (6) pages in double-column IEEE format including results, figures and references before March 30, 2008.
