************************************************************************************************************** Special session on the Intelligent Multimedia Information System http://zimmer.csufresno.edu/~yucao/Service/IMIS2008.htm for the 2008 IEEE International Conference on Networking, Sensing and Control (IEEE ICNSC'08) http://liu.ece.uic.edu/ICNSC08 April 6-8, 2008 International Asia Pacific Convention Center & HNA Resort Sanya, Hainan, China. With the rapid advances in imaging and video technology, multimedia data has been widely used in today’s information system. A critical part of the modern Multimedia Information System, from multimedia databases to video surveillance system, is the manner and extent to which information systems can be said to be "intelligent". Due to the unique characteristics of multimedia data, new methods for automatically collecting, delivering, and analyzing multimedia data are becoming more and more important. The goal of this special session is to bring together experts in all aspects of intelligent multimedia information systems, which includes but not limited to: multimedia databases, multimedia data mining, intelligent vision system, content-based analysis, multimedia networking, graphics and visualization, artificial intelligence, and algorithms. A special theme of this session is Intelligent Analysis for Biomedical Images and Videos. Papers focusing on the information integration, fusion, delivery, and analyze for biomedical images and videos as well as systems, networking and application issues in biomedical data are especially encouraged. In addition, papers on traditional multimedia information systems are also solicited. Topics of Interest: * Multimedia Tools and Architectures * Multimedia Broadcasting Systems * Operating System Support for Multimedia * Multimedia Communication Systems * Multimedia Networking * Distributed Multimedia Systems * Multimedia Performance and Management * Mobile Multimedia * Vision systems * Image and Video Processing * Pattern Analysis and Content-Based Image Retrieval * Still Image and Video Transmission * System Architecture and Performance Evaluation Paper Submission and Publication Complete manuscripts must be electronically submitted at ICNSC08 Web site. Submitted manuscripts should be six (6) pages in IEEE two-column format, including figures, tables, and references. A LaTeX style file and a Microsoft Word template are available from the conference web site. However, submission MUST be PDF FORMAT. In additional to submit your paper through ICNSC08 Web site, please send a notice to the special session organizer Yu Cao (yucao@csufresno.edu) and cc to Zhixiong Chen (zxchen@ieee.org). Each paper will be peer reviewed by at least two experts in the topical area. All accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings and will be indexed by EI. Important Dates * Paper submission deadline: October 1, 2007 * Notification of acceptance: November 15, 2007 * Camera-ready copy and author registration: December 15, 2007 Session Organizer: Session Chair Yu Cao, Ph.D. Assistant Professor Department of Computer Sciences California State University, Fresno email: yucao@csufresno.edu Web: http://zimmer.csufresno.edu/~yucao/ Session Co-Chair Degui Xiao, Ph.D. Associate Professor School of Computer and Communication Hunan University, P.R.China email: jt_dgxiao@hnu.cn Web: http://ccc.hnu.cn
