OMNIVIS 2008 The Eighth Workshop on Omnidirectional Vision, Camera Networks and Non-classical Cameras Web: http://omnivis.labs-exit.de/ October 17th 2008 in conjunction with ECCV, Marseille France. We are pleased to announce OMNIVIS'2008, the Eighth Workshop on Omnidirectional Vision, Camera Networks and Non-classical Cameras, to be held on October 17th in conjunction with ECCV 2008 in Marseille, France. The OMNIVIS'2008 Workshop continues a series of workshops started in 2000. The aim of the workshop is to bring together researchers interested in camera networks and omnidirectional vision including novel imaging and projection systems and catadioptric systems. Contributions are sought on new and original research on any aspect of omnidirectional vision and camera networks, including novel sensor design, panoramic vision applications, and scalable algorithms for large-scale camera networks. All papers will be subject to a double-blind review process which will be carried out by a Program Committee of leading international researchers. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to: Novel Cameras and Display Systems cameras o Novel Designs o Calibration and modelling o Image processing o Other Applications Large- (>1000) and medium- scale (10-1000) camera networks o Decentralized algorithms robust to node failures o Calibration o Camera deployment and distributed calibration applications: surveillance, tele-immersion, intelligent environments, etc. Mini-panels: This year, in order to stimulate open discussion on specific themes, the OMNIVIS workshop will include mini-panel discussions on topics related to the accepted papers. Short after early registration deadline, the abstracts of the accepted papers will be available online. On demand, the full content of specific papers will be available for early registered participants. Early registered participants can then formulate interest in mini-panel discussions associated to specific papers; they are expected to prepare a 1-3 minute oral contribution to each discussion. A mini-panel discussion will take place after each paper presentation (or poster session). Its duration will be calibrated according to the number of interest formulations associated to the paper, so to include also the usual, extemporaneous questions from the audience. Important Dates: (a) Submission deadline: 4th, July 2008 (b) Reviews deadlines: 25th, July 2008 (c) Notification of acceptance: 4th, August 2008 (d) Camera ready submission: 20th August 2008 (e) Abstracts of accepted papers available on-line: 25th August 2008 (f) Early registration: 1st September 2008 (g) Formulation of interest on mini-panels on accepted papers: 10th September 2008 Organizers.
