AVSS 2009 - Deadline extended to March 15, 2009 We apologize for multiple copies of this CFP ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6th IEEE International Conference on Advanced Video and Signal based Surveillance (AVSS) for Security, Safety and Monitoring in Smart Environments Genova (Italy) - September 2-4, 2009 http://www.avss09.org -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- AVSS is the IEEE conference series on video and signal based surveillance. 2009 AVSS edition will be financially and technically co-sponsored by IEEE Computer Society (PAMI TC) and by the IEEE Signal Processing Society (IVMSP TC). Starting in 1998, most recent previous editions were held in 2006 (Sydney, Australia), in 2007 (London, UK) and in 2008 (Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA). AVSS is a forum of reference for the field and offers the opportunity to meet and foster collaboration. AVSS has a tradition of participation from the worlds of research, industry, and relevant government agencies. AVSS welcomes contributions in the following areas: a) sensors and data fusion, b) processing, detection and recognition, c) analytics, behavior and biometrics d) interaction and description, e) applications, f) systems, performances and ethical issues, and it also gives unique emphasis to cross-disciplinary and visionary papers. The Conference focuses on underlying theory, methods, systems, and application areas. PAPER SUBMISSION AND PROCEEDINGS PUBLICATION Full length papers between 4 and 6 A4 pages in length are solicited. Detailed submission instructions will be posted on the conference website in due time. Each submission will be peer-reviewed in full length by at least two experts. The conference proceedings will be published by the IEEE Computer Society. The AVSS 2009 website http://www.avss09.org will provide you with further details. The conference features a track of "open review submissions." Submission under this category is voluntary. The names of the authors will be known to the reviewers and the names of the reviewers will be known to the authors. This entails that the reviewers will write civil, thorough, well-documented, and constructive reviews. Accepted papers will be revised per the reviewers' comments to the extent possible. CALL FOR MULTI-CAMERA PERSON TRACKING CHALLENGE AVSS 2009 will include a special session covering an open evaluation. Video sequences provided by UK Home Office will be distributed and performance evaluation will be carried on by NIST. Tracks will be considered of a designated person as he/she traverses a multi-camera field in airport surveillance video. Deadline and details will be available on the AVSS web site http://www.avss09.org/index.php?mod=05_Challenge. INDUSTRIAL SESSION A special industrial research session and panel are forecasted. Proposal for contributions can be sent to industrial chair.
