ICIAP - The International Conference on Image Analysis and 
Processing is organized every two years by the Italian 
group of researchers affiliated to IAPR (GIRPR), with the 
aim to bring together researchers in image processing and 
pattern recognition from around the world. The main target
of ICIAP 2009, the 15th edition in the series, will be to
provide a place in which the most recent approaches and 
goals in image analysis and processing can be presented 
and discussed.
ICIAP 2009 will be held in Vietri sul Mare, Salerno 
(Italy), from September 8 to 11. The conference will be 
hosted in the Lloyd's Baia Hotel. The hotel is sited on 
the enchanting Amalfi Coast and is built on a rock 
overlooking the sea.

PAPER SUBMISSION

Accepted papers will be published by Springer-Verlag in 
the Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series. 
Prospective authors should submit an electronic version of 
the manuscript (PostScript or PDF format) through the
conference website. The papers should not exceed 9 pages, 
and should be prepared according to the LNCS format. 
Submission implies the willingness of at least one author 
per paper to register, attend the workshop and present the 
paper.
The best paper by a young author will be awarded by the 
Caianiello Prize. Eligibility is restricted to papers 
authored by a young researcher, with no more than two 
authors.

TUTORIALS, DEMO AND CONTEST SESSIONS

Half-day tutorials providing a comprehensive full-
immersion on specific subjects of image processing, 
pattern recognition and applications will be given on 
September 8th, 2009. Proposals should include title and 
abstract, a detailed outline, background and potential 
target audience, biography of the presenter(s),
bibliography supporting the proposal (e.g. a tutorial-
level published article). Proposals should be submitted to 
tutorials@iciap2009.org before January 31st, 2009.

A demo session will present the latest results in image 
processing and pattern recognition technologies.
We would like to encourage the submission of proposals for
demonstrations of software related to any areas of image
processing and pattern recognition.

The conference will also host two contests: one on 
biometric identification and one on video surveillance. 
During the conference, a contest session will present and 
discuss the results obtained by the contest participants.
