IMAGE ANALYSIS FOR MEDICAL MEASUREMENTS Special Session of IEEE Workshop MEMEA2009 May 29-30 2009 Hotel San Michele, Cetraro, Cosenza, Italy The use of image data is pervasive in many fields of the biomedical sciences from the molecular level to the diagnostic levels. In almost all applications of medical images there is the need to identify, extract and measure objects of medical interest. The special section will be open to the presentation of all the methods, technologies and applications of image analysis applied to the measurments in medical images. The topics of the section include, but are not limited to: - Image representation analysis and measurements - Feature extraction and image description - Image feature analysis - Medical and biological imaging - Cellular imaging - Image processing for biological systems - Medical images restoration and segmentation - Computer aided diagnosis of medical images - Methods in diagnosis optimization - Advances in medical imaging systems technology - Classification tools for image-based measurements - Content based image retrieval systems Keynote speakers: * TBD Important Dates: * Deadline for Extended Abstracts Submission: January 31, 2009 * Notification of Acceptance: March 2, 2009 * Submission of Camera Ready Papers: April 18, 2009 Papers: Accepted contribution will be published as IEEE Conference Proceedings, the authors will also be solicited to submit extended versions of their papers for a special issue of the journal IEEE Transactions on Intsrumentation and Measurement.
