FOCUS K3D Conference on Semantic 3D Media and Content 11 -12 February 2010, INRIA Sophia Antipolis - Méditerranée, France ====== AIM The FOCUS K3D conference calls for contribution on novel ideas and applications in the emerging research field of semantic 3D media and content. The key event of the conference will be the presentation of the research roadmap prepared by the FOCUS K3D project. The roadmap will be presented and discussed with the participants in order to identify current issues in knowledge intensive 3D media, trace future research and technological directions, and establish new partnerships to promote innovative projects involving both academia and industry. The conference addresses scientists not only in Computer Graphics but also in all the disciplines that make strong use of 3D modelling and simulation; professional developers of tools for 3D content creation and management; publishers/dealers of online 3D repositories; creators of digital 3D content. ====== Submission deadline: January 8th, 2010 Acceptance notification: January 22th, 2010 Instructions for Submissions www.focusk3d.eu ====== Call for Papers The conference opens a call for extended abstracts (max 5 A4 pages IEEE proceedings style) to attract papers from leading researchers working on topics related to semantic 3D media and applications, including but not limited to: - semantics-based 3D modelling and processing - semantics-driven 3D shape segmentation - content-based 3D retrieval and classification - semantics-driven 3D visualization - 3D media ontologies - formalization of shape semantics - smart objects and virtual characters - automatic creation of imaginary worlds - semantics-driven interaction in 3D worlds The following application domains are particularly welcome: Medicine and Bioinformatics Gaming and Simulation CAD/CAE and Virtual Product Modelling Archaeology and Cultural Heritage Conference proceedings will be made available during the conference. In addition, a call for papers for a special issue of Computers&Graphics will be launched right after the conference, on the topics listed above. ======= Call for Project Presentations The conference also opens a call for presentations of ongoing or recently completed European projects and inititatives relevant to the themes of the conference. Short abstracts describing the research and development activities should be submitted (max 2 A4 pages IEEE proceedings style) and accepted contributions will be part of the conference poster session and/or plenary sessions. ======= Conference Programme The conference programme will feature keynotes speakers, who will provide an up-to-date overview of the research challenges in the aforementioned application domains, as well as invited talks of European Commission representatives, who will give information about open or upcoming calls. ======== Conference Organization Conference Chairs B.
