The workshop will address recent advances in theory, methodologies and applications. It is meant to promote the discussion and presentation of new research and development in the area of pattern recognition and applications. We encourage original contributions from works on the following areas and other related topics: * Feature Selection and Extraction Ÿ Neural Networks for Pattern Recognition * Classification Ÿ Fuzzy Methods for Pattern Recognition * Clustering Ÿ Syntactical Methods * Multi-classifiers Ÿ Statistical Methods * Descriptors Ÿ Structural Methods * Segmentation Ÿ Logical and Combinatorial Methods * Filtering Ÿ Hybrid Methods * Object Recognition Ÿ Computer Vision * Face Recognition Ÿ Image Understanding * Character, Graphical and Text Recognition Ÿ Image Compression and Coding * Matching & Verification Ÿ Image Description and Recognition * Multimedia Processing Ÿ Applications PAPER SUBMISSION You are invited to submit original and unpublished research works on above and other topics related to pattern analysis and recognition. Submitted papers must not have been published or simultaneously submitted elsewhere. Please submit a PDF copy of your full manuscript, not to exceed 8 double-column IEEE formatted pages, and include up to 6 keywords and an abstract of no more than 350 words. Additional pages will be charged at additional fee. Please, indicate clearly the corresponding author. Each paper will receive a minimum of three reviews. At least one of the authors of each accepted paper will have to register and attend the HPCS 2010 conference for presenting the paper at the workshop. Accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings. Papers should be submitted as email attachments to: vvalev@pmu.edu.sa. Your submission will be acknowledged within 48 hours. If accepted, final papers will follow the format that HPCS posted on the web site. Papers will be selected based on their originality, relevance, technical clarity and presentation. Authors of accepted papers must guarantee that their papers will be registered and presented at the workshop. Accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings which will be available at the time of the meeting.
