Call for Papers IEEE/ISPRS workshop on Computer Vision for Remote Sensing of the Environment in conjunction with the 13th International Conference on Computer Vision (ICCV 2011), Barcelona, Spain http://recherche.ign.fr/isprs/CVRS/ Workshop Date: November 7, 2011 (full day) Deadline for Paper Submission: July 8, 2011 Images acquired by spaceborne, airborne and terrestrial sensor platforms are nowadays a main data source for large-scale monitoring of our environment, and the information extracted from those images plays an essential role for the observation, understanding, and planning of man-made and natural habitats. Examples range from global monitoring of land cover, sea ice and soil moisture to local urban and agricultural planning. Computer vision has made huge progress towards automating semantic image interpretation, and could make important contributions to the analysis of remote sensing imagery. The CVRS workshop aims to bring together computer vision and remote sensing researchers to discuss these exciting new possibilities. The event is organized jointly with ISPRS Commission Photogrammetric Computer Vision and Image Analysis. Submissions are invited from all areas of computer vision and image analysis relevant for, or applied to, environmental remote sensing. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: * Classification, detection, and segmentation * Priors, graphical models and stochastic grammars for semantic labeling * Information mining, indexing and retrieval * Context-aware machine learning and image understanding * Algorithms and approximations for large images * Pixel-based, region-based and object-based methods * Multi-modal and multi-scale fusion * Processing and exploiting heterogeneous feature sets * Image semantics and knowledge representation * Geometric modeling and registration * Low-level processing of different sensor data (hyper-spectral, RADAR, thermal, etc.) * Estimation of environmental parameters and processes from images * Physical models of reflectance and light transport Submitted manuscripts shall be full papers (up to 8 pages IEEE style, see webpage) and will be subject to a double-blind review process. The proceedings will be published by IEEE on the DVD proceedings of ICCV 2011, and will be available in IEEE Xplore. We are very much looking forward to a keynote by invited speaker * Josiane Zerubia, ARIANA team, INRIA Sophia-Antipolis The members of the Program Committee are: * Emmanuel Baltsavias, ETH Zurich * Jon Atli Benediktsson, University of Iceland * Horst Bischof, TU Graz * Matthieu Cord, UPMC-Sorbonne * Sukhendu Das, IIT Madras * Jan-Michael Frahm, UNC Chapel Hill * Olaf Hellwich, TU Berlin * Clement Mallet, Institut Geographique National * Helmut Mayer, UniBW Muenchen * Stefan Roth, TU Darmstadt * Christoph Strecha, EPFL Lausanne * Peter Sturm, INRIA Grenoble * George Vosselman, University of Twente * Bjoern Waske, Bonn University * Alper Yilmaz, Ohio State University * Josiane Zerubia, INRIA Sophia-Antipolis As organizers of CVRS 2011 we are looking forward to your contributions and to meeting you in Barcelona at the workshop, Konrad Schindler, Wolfgang Foerstner, and Nicholas Paparoditis.
