Conference name: PECCS Special Session on Simulation and Interaction in Intelligent Environments - SIMIE 2011 Venue: Algarve, Portugal Event Date: 5-7 March, 2011 Chair Paul Richard University of Angers France Scope The Special Session on Simulation and Interaction in Intelligent Environments (SIMIE) aims to bring together researchers and practitioners working in innovative technologies that facilitate human communication interaction with machines, environments and other humans. Ambient Intelligence, Multimedia, Virtual Reality and Robotics are becoming more and more important areas of technological development for corporations as well as for universities. Research is active in these challenging areas and applications are numerous in engineering as well as in health care, arts, and other areas. There are well-know examples of immersive virtual environments and telepresence systems such as in robotics, health care and other domains, making it easier to establish collaborative and intelligent environments where people can interact with each other and with artificial agents as well. For exemple , businesses can achieve significant travel cost reductions through the use of virtual meetings. In industrial or remote environments it is possible to tele-operate robots in situations that could be dangerous for humans. SIMIE encourages authors to submit papers describing original work based on diverse perspectives related to HCI, especially involving Virtual Reality, Tele-robotics, Ambient Intelligence, and related technologies, including recent advances in research, applications and tools. Important Dates Regular Paper Submission: January 17, 2011 Authors Notification: January 25, 2011 Final Paper Submission and Registration: February 3, 2011 Paper Submission Prospective authors are invited to submit papers in any of the topics listed above. Instructions for preparing the manuscript (in Word and Latex formats) are available at: Paper Templates Please also check the Submission Guidelines. Papers should be submitted electronically via the web-based submission system at: http://www.insticc.org/Primoris Publications All accepted papers will be published in a special section of the conference proceedings book, under an ISBN reference and on CD-ROM support. All papers presented at the conference venue will be available at the SciTePress Digital Library (http://www.scitepress.org/DigitalLibrary/).
