Let me kindly inform you that the Int'l Joint Conference on Computer Vision Theory and Applications (VISAPP - http://www.visapp.visigrapp.org/) is now welcoming the submission of position papers (deadline set for next January 3). VISAPP will be held next year in Algarve, Portugal, on March 5-7. A position paper presents an arguable opinion about an issue. The goal of a position paper is to convince the audience that your opinion is valid and worth listening to, without the need to present completed research work and/or validated results. It is, nevertheless, important to support your argument with evidence to ensure the validity of your claims. A position paper may be a short report and discussion of ideas, facts, situations, methods, procedures or results of scientific research (bibliographic, experimental, theoretical, or other) focused on one of the conference topic areas. The acceptance of a position paper is restricted to the categories of "short paper" or "poster", i.e. a position paper is not a candidate to acceptance as "full paper". BXHX This prestigious conference is sponsored by INSTICC and in cooperation with the WfMC (Workflow Management Coalition). VISAPP 2011 is a component conference of VISIGRAPP - a joint conference that integrates knowledge areas related to Computer Vision, Imaging, Computer Graphics and Information Visualization, which are becoming more and more interrelated and sustain important interdisciplinary R&D work (http://www.visigrapp.org). VISAPP is interested in promoting high quality research as it can be confirmed by last year acceptance rates, where from 260 submissions 13% were accepted as full papers. Additionally, 27% were presented as short papers and 19% as posters. The conference will include four Keynote Lectures delivered by distinguished world-class researchers: Dr. Carlos Gonzalez-Morcillo, University of Castilla-La Mancha, Spain ), Dr. Vittorio Ferrari (ETH Zurich, Switzerland), Dr. Brian A. Barsky (University of California, Berkeley, U.S.A.) and Dr. Joost van de Weijer (Autonomous University of Barcelona, Spain). The Program Committee (check the website for a detailed list) includes internationally distinguished experts on the conference topic areas. Submitted papers will be subject to a double-blind review process. All accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings, under an ISBN reference, on paper and on CD-ROM support. A short list of presented papers will be selected so that revised and extended versions of these papers will be published by Springer-Verlag in a CCIS Series book. Best paper awards will be bestowed at the conference closing session. All papers presented at the conference venue will be available at the SciTePress Digital Library (http://www.scitepress.org/DigitalLibrary/). Workshops and special sessions are also invited. If you wish to propose a workshop or a special session, for example based on the results of a specific research project, please contact the secretariat. Workshop chairs and Special Session chairs will benefit from logistics support and other types of support, including secretariat and financial support, to facilitate the development of a valid idea. Please check further details at the VISAPP conference website (http://www.visapp.visigrapp.org/). There you will find detailed information about the conference structure. This conference is co-located with PECCS 2011 (1st International Conference on Pervasive and Embedded Computing and Communication Systems - http://www.peccs.org/). Registration to one of the conferences warrants free attendance to any technical sessions of the other one. Should you have any question please don't hesitate contacting me.
