***************************************************************************** CALL FOR PAPERS 4th International Workshop on IP-based TV Technologies and Multidisciplinary Applications (IWITMA 2012), to be held in conjunction with IEEE International Symposium on Multimedia ( ISM2012), Irvine, California, 10-12 December 2012 http://imde.cio.umh.es/iwitma2012/ ****************************************************************************** SCOPE The 4th International Workshop on IP-based TV Technologies and Multidisciplinary Applications (IWITMA 2012) is a high-quality satellite event of IEEE ISM 2012 and following same format of the last editions organized in conjunction with IEEE INFOCOM 2011, IEEE ICME 2010 and ConTel 2009, IEEE Communications sponsored. The workshop will address IP-based TV and multidisciplinary applications of IP video, which will not only radically change the telecommunications and the entertainment industries, but they are also expected to stimulate and enhance creativity, professional productivity and community relations. In particular, the workshop intends to have ample time for discussion amongst participants on research topics of emerging trends in the area of media delivery and how the networks, current and future, will support the converged multimedia. The workshop encourages submissions to attract attendance from both academia and industry. Thus, the workshop seeks innovative technical papers that consolidate and present the leadingedge research prototype development, deployment and performance studies in the following multimedia and multidisciplinary areas: • Network design impacts of IP-based video convergence • Architectures for converged systems especially those targeting multi screens and combining mobility • Video convergence, Mobile TV, Mobile Social TV applications and interactivity • Scalable compression, Network coding, congestion control, rate control of IP-based TV content • Encoding technologies for maintaining the integrity and optimise the QoE of IP-based TV content • Cross-layer dynamic adaptation and end-to-end QoS issues for heterogeneous IP-based TV networks • Video Content Distribution, Networks and P2P architectures for distributed services • Innovative methods for evolving IP-based TV services (including algorithmic aspects of computer networking oriented to billing, pricing and advertising models, large-scale data management, etc.) PAPER SUBMISSION Paper submissions for this workshop should follow the submission format and guidelines for regular conference papers, and be submitted electronically before submission deadline. Please see conference web site http://ism.eecs.uci.edu/ for details. Submitted papers will undergo a peer review process and accepted papers will be published in the special section of the main conference proceedings. At the closing ceremony of the workshop, there will be a Best Workshop Paper Award that will consist of a recommendation for publication at IEEE Transactions on Multimedia (TMM). For considering publication at TMM, this paper should be an extended version (30-40%) of the original contribution presented at the workshop. Furthermore, outstanding papers will be invited for publication (TBC) in a Special Issue of a major journal (indexed in SCI) relevant to the main topics promoted at this workshop. For this purpose, those selected papers should be an extended version of the original contribution presented at the workshop. KEYNOTE SPEAKER Additionally, the workshop plans to bring a distinguised speaker to talk on “IP-based TV in Industry”, i.e., to discuss original contributions from various industry IP-based TV domains (e.g. consumer electronics, broadcasters, producers, broadband companies, software and hardware developers, telecom operators). DEMOS The workshop encourages IP-based TV companies to present contributions which are especially relevant to the future video networks and IP-based TV industry. Therefore, this topic is not intended to present research work (only). Contributions concerning (amongst others) with IPbased TV area like live demos, business cases, market insights, innovation, case studies, etc. are welcomed.
