CALL FOR PAPERS Multimedia Tools and Applications Editor-in-Chief: Prof. Borko Furht Special issue title: Computer Vision Technology for Multimedia Applications Introduction Computer vision technology plays a key role in diverse multimedia applications, including surveillance, environmental monitoring, smart space, and so on. These has led to a massive research effort devoted to research challenges in the development of computer vision algorithms for managing, processing, analyzing, and interpreting the multimedia data collected. The aim of this special issue is to consolidate the recent research achievements that address the broad challenges in computer vision technologies with a specific focus in multimedia applications. Both original research papers and review articles would be of great interest. Topics Potential topics include, but are not limited to: Image and video processing, registration, restoration, and enhancement Image and video analysis, object detection, segmentation, and tracking Biometrics, face and action recognition, event detection and recognition Computer vision for human computer interaction Computer vision for multimedia communications, error concealment, compression artifact suppression Visualization, virtual reality, stereoscopic and 3D imaging Multimedia content representation, management, and retrieval Multimedia quality assessment Multimedia applications in surveillance, social networking, ambient intelligence, etc. Submission guidelines Papers will be evaluated based on their originality, presentation, relevance and novelty, as well as their suitability to the special issue. The submitted papers must be written in excellent English and describe original research which has not been published nor currently under review by other journals or conferences. Previously published conference papers should be clearly identified by the authors (at the submission stage) and an explanation should be provided how such papers have been extended to be considered for this special issue. All submitted papers will be strictly peer-reviewed by at least two independent reviewers.
