******************************************************************************************************** CALL FOR PAPERS AND PARTICIPATION ******************************************************************************************************** 1st MICCAI Workshop on Computer Assisted Stenting (MICCAI-STENT) http://campar.in.tum.de/STENT2012/WebHome October 1, 2012, 2-5.30 pm, Nice, France Half-day workshop in conjunction with MICCAI 2012 News ---------------------------------------------------------------- Submission site now open https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=miccaistent12 Important Dates ---------------------------------------------------------------- Paper submission deadline: June 4, 2012 Notification of acceptance: July 2, 2012 Camera-ready submission deadline: August 5, 2012 Workshop: October 1, 2012, 2-5.30 pm This workshop aims to bring together researchers in the field of endovascular stenting procedures in different anatomical regions. While researchers concerned with cerebral, coronary, carotid, and aortic stenting have mostly published within their corresponding anatomy, the proposed MICCAI-STENT Workshop will provide a platform for scientific discussion on stent-related research across anatomical boundaries and will eventually be the basis for forming a specialized subcommunity within MICCAI. Technological advances in diagnostic and intraoperative imaging offer increasingly useful information regarding vascular anatomy and function and are poised to have dramatic impact on the diagnosis, analysis, modeling, and treatment of vascular diseases. Computational vision techniques designed to analyze images for modeling, simulating, and visualizing anatomy and medical devices such as stents as well as the assessment of interventional procedures are therefore playing an important role and are currently receiving significant interest. In the 1st MICCAI-STENT workshop to be held on October 1, 2012, in Nice, France, all aspects of this topic will be addressed, and to the best of our knowledge STENT is the only workshop dedicated to these particular aspects of stenting procedures, and it is absolutely complementary to the main MICCAI conference. We invite submission of papers presenting new techniques for every aspect of computational assistance for all kinds of stenting procedures regardless of their anatomical area (cardiac, aortic, cerebral, etc.) Relevant topics for the workshop include (but are not limited to): · Computer-aided surgery for stenting procedures · Navigated stenting · Quantification of vascular morphology and function, stent (graft) vessel wall interaction · Detection and visualization of fluid dynamic changes induced by stents (grafts) · Computer-aided planning of vascular treatments · Segmentation and anatomic modeling from vascular images · Image-based biomechanical models of stents (grafts), vascular anatomy and function · Image registration for stenting procedures · Hemodynamic image-based modeling · Analysis and improvement of stent (graft) design · Virtual stenting · Monitoring and follow-up for stent (graft) implants Besides oral and poster presentations of reviewed submissions, this workshop will also feature an invited talk of a vascular surgery expert who will report on recent changes in the medical workflow of stenting procedures. In addition, we will bring together experts from medical and engineering domain (academia as well as representatives of industry) and initiate a panel discussion on the future of computer assisted stenting.
