WBIR 2012: FIRST CALL FOR PAPERS Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee, USA July 7-8, 2012 The Workshop on Biomedical Image Registration aims to bring together leading researchers in the area of biomedical image registration to present and discuss recent developments in the field. The format of the two-day workshop will include both oral and poster presentations and ample opportunities for discussion. Previous WBIRs were held in Bled, Slovenia (1999), at the University of Pennsylvania, USA (2003), at the University Medical Center Utrecht, The Netherlands (2006), and in Lübeck, Germany (2010). The proceedings of the conference will be published in a volume of the Springer's Lecture Notes in Computer Science series (www.springer.com/lncs). Submissions are invited in all areas of biomedical image registration. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: • Methods of registration: measures of similarity, 2D/3D/4D, nonrigid deformation, intra- or inter-modality registration, intra- or inter-subject registration, optimization methods, model-based registration. • Biomedical applications of registration: computer integrated surgery, image-guided therapy and diagnosis, treatment planning, serial studies, morphometry, biomechanics, image retrieval, image fusion, and real-time implementations. • Validation of registration: computational and empirical accuracy, comparison studies, physical models.
