BOOK TITLE: Semantic Multimedia Retrieval: Current status and future trends
To be published by CRC Press, USA
Overview
Due to the prevalence of the multimedia data, finding the relevant
data is the hard dilemma. The machine can effectively interpret the
contents inside the multimedia data but fails to completely extract
the semantics inside them, and leads to the problem known as semantic
gap. Semantic based retrieval refers to the analysis, extraction of
the multimedia contents semantically. It interprets the multimedia
data conceptually rather than on the basis of contents inside the
data. The multimedia data include the semantic based retrieval include
the texts, images, graphics, video, and audio files, from multimedia
databases. The book intents to disseminate the research and
development in bridging the semantic gap. It will educate the
researchers, professionals and multimedia community to understand the
state of the art as well as the future trends in multimedia semantics.
Recommended topics include, but are not limited to, the following:
Introduction and Background (From Contents based to the Semantic based)

Semantic Concept Detection
Automatic Multimedia Annotation
Ontologies
Multimodal Fusion
Semantic Indexing
Semantic Multimedia Classification
Relevance Feedback
