Conference on Design & Architectures for Signal & Image Processing Call for Papers

************************ CALL FOR PAPERS *************************** Special Session on Hardware/Software acceleration of Vision and Image processing applications for embedded targets DASIP 2013 Conference on Design & Architectures for Signal & Image Processing October 8-10, 2013 Cagliari, Italy http://www.ecsi.org/dasip Paper submission deadline: April 28, 2013 Scope: Recent advances in computer technology have led to an explosion in the use of digital images in a variety of real-life applications, motivating an ever-increasing demand for systems capable of executing sophisticated image processing- and computer vision-based applications. High-end embedded systems are particularly well suited as a target platform, due to their pervasiveness in everybody’s everyday life. However, such applications impose computation-intensive tasks. In the embedded domain the complexity of processing nodes is limited by several constraints like power consumption, size and cost, which calls for smart hardware and/or software solutions to improve application execution, in terms of energy efficiency and performance. The goal of this special session is to bring together researchers and practitioners working in the area of embedded vision/image processing. We are soliciting original contributions, which address a wide range of topics related (but not limited) to: - Parallelization of vision/image processing applications for embedded multi- and many-cores - Application-specific acceleration hardware for embedded vision/image processing - Architecture support for optimized embedded vision/image processing - HW/SW co-design of embedded systems for vision/image processing - Detailed analysis of vision/image processing applications and workloads - Application acceleration (HW or SW) case studies Submission Requirements: Authors should submit their full papers (up to 8 pages, double column IEEE format) in PDF through the web based submission system. Submitted papers should be anonymous, and are required to describe original unpublished work and must not be under consideration for publication elsewhere. The conference proceedings will be published in electronic form with an ISSN and ISBN number and made available on the ECSI website and the IEEE Xplore Digital Library. The selected best papers from several DASIP editions will be published in a book by SPRINGER. Session chairs: Andrea Marongiu - University of Bologna Luca Benini - University of Bologna General Co-Chairs: Paolo Meloni, University of Cagliari Christophe Jégo, University of Bordeaux Program Co-Chairs: Eduardo de la Torre, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid Sebastien Pillement, Polytech University of Nantes
