IEEE ISMAR 2013 Joint Workshop on Tracking Methods & Applications and TrakMark Call for Papers

Call for Papers IEEE ISMAR 2013 Joint Workshop on Tracking Methods & Applications and TrakMark Workshop URL: http://studierstube.icg.tugraz.at/ISMARTrackingWorkshop/ Workshop Date: Tuesday, October 1, 2013 Paper Submission Deadline: Monday, June 17, 2013 Works in Progress Submission Deadline: July 8, 2013 Workshop Location: Adelaide, Australia Co-located with IEEE 2013 International Symposium on Mixed and Augmented Reality (ISMAR) ABOUT THE WORKSHOP The focus of this workshop is on all issues related to tracking for Mixed and Augmented Reality. This year, we will combine the well-established TrakMark meeting with the recent workshop series on Tracking Methods & Applications to cover all these aspects in one event. Unlike the tracking sessions of the main conference, this workshop does not require pure novelty of the proposed methods; it rather encourages presentations that concentrate on complete systems and integrated approaches engineered to run in real-world scenarios. The concept of this workshop is to look at pose tracking from an end-to-end point of view. We invite submissions describing practical tracking solutions for AR which address issues including, but not limited to: - Model-based detection and tracking - Large scale object recognition - SLAM and online reconstruction - Sensor integration and fusion - User generated content and tracking data - Networking and persistence - Flow graphs and plug-in architectures This year we would especially like to emphasize: - Hardware for tracking (e.g. FPGA, special cameras) - CPU offloading (e.g. GPU processing) - Datasets for benchmarking of tracking algorithms - Evaluation methodology for fair comparison of tracking methods Two keynote talks given by invited world-renowned specialists in fields from which Augmented Reality can highly benefit will be delivered at the beginning of each presentation session. The fields include computer vision and other sensing modalities (e.g. GPS, inertial, etc.) and systems issues (calibration, estimation, fusion, etc.). The speakers will be announced soon. PAPER SUBMISSION Authors are requested to submit original, unpublished manuscripts in standard IEEE proceedings format. Submitted papers should address at least one of the workshop topics or a relevant topic indicated by the author. Accepted paper must be presented by the authors at the workshop. All workshop material will be included on the conference memory stick and archived on the workshop website. Submit your manuscript through the EasyChair submission system: https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=tmatrakmark2013 IMPORTANT DATES - Deadline for technical papers and position statements: June 17, 2013 - Deadline for works in progress: July 8, 2013 - Submission decision and notifications: July 15, 2013 - Workshop: October 1, 2013 WORKSHOP ORGANIZERS AND PROGRAM COMMITTEE - Daniel Wagner, Qualcomm, Austria - Yoshinari Kameda, University of Tsukuba, Japan - Hideaki Uchiyama, Toshiba Corporation, Japan - Jonathan Ventura, Graz University of Technology, Austria - Hideo Saito, Keio University, Japan - Selim Benhimane, Intel, USA PARTICIPATION Participation is open to all attendees registering for the workshop, not only to presenters. We explicitly invite non-research attendees to join us as well and provide valuable insight into commercial areas of interest and constraints.
