The Village at Breckenridge, Colorado
January 31 -- February 5, 2016
Organizer: George Sperling, University of California, Irvine

1) Conference Venue, Aims

The ANNUAL INTERDISCIPLINARY CONFERENCE will meet for the 41th time,
January 31 - February 5, 2016 in The Village at Breckenridge, Colorado
where the 37th AIC met in 2012.

The AIC covers a wide range of subjects in what has come to be called
cognitive science, ranging from visual and auditory physiology and
psychophysics to human information processing, cognition, learning and
memory, to computational approaches to these problems including neural
networks, artificial intelligence and, most recently, brain
imaging. The aim is to provide overview talks that are comprehensible
and interesting to a wide scientific audience -- such as one might
fantasize would occur at a National or Royal Academy of
Science. Programs of the previous forty AIC conferences can be viewed
at the AIC webpage.

Breckenridge is an historic town with a spectacular mountain, as large
as Jackson (where AIC has most often met), and it is less than two
hours drive from Denver International Airport. The Village in
Breckenridge, has excellent conference facilities, the rooms are
condos with fully equipped kitchens, it is a ski-in ski-out facility
located directly at the base of Peak 9, and it is just a 5 min walk
from the shops and restaurants on historic Main Street.

Registration

Presentation submissions are hereby invited. Despite rumors that
participation is by invitation (perhaps because of the high quality of
the talks), the only way to participate as a speaker is to:
(1) email a title and abstract to the AIC conference organizer (as per
the web page registration form) on or before September 18, 2015
AND
(2) complete the registration form at the AIC website
AND
(3) send a check for the registration fee ($190; $250 after September
18, 2015; $95 for students) payable to
"Annual Interdisciplinary Conference" and addressed to

    AIC

Nonspeaking participants also must register and are welcome up to the
capacity of the meeting room (50). The registration fee pays for the
rental of the conference facilities and equipment, the daily catering
of snacks and refreshments, the concluding banquet, and administrative
costs associated with the conference. Applicants will be notified as
soon as possible, and not later than Friday, September 25, 2015, of
the acceptance of proposed presentations. Registration fees for
speakers are nonrefundable after September 25, but they are refundable
at any time for nonspeaking participants.

Schedule

The Conference begins with a reception on Sunday evening, January 31,
at 5:30p followed by a half-session from 6:00-8:00p. Regular sessions
meet from Monday (Feb 1) through Friday (Feb 6) at 4:00p to 8:00p; the
rest of the day is free. After the last session on Friday, there is a
banquet for participants and their guests.

The 40 previous programs, photos, and hotel information are published on the AIC website; the 2016 program will be posted as it becomes available.

Lodging, Travel

For AIC attendees, Studio Suites at The Village are $159 + $10 resort
fee + 11.68% tax, One Bedroom Condos are $189, some more elaborate
units are available. To reserve accommodations at these vastly reduced

Village at regular intervals, so book your accommodations as soon as
possible. For lodging details see

Many other hotels, restaurants, ski rental facilities, shops, and

contract, The Village offers reduced prices for the Shuttle service
from the airport, as well as reduced prices for ski rentals and lift
