The 8th Workshop on the Architecture of Smart Cameras will be held in
Rennes on July 1-2 2019. The purpose of this focused workshop is to
provide participants with an informal setting for discussing novel
work (in progress) or ideas on academic and technical directions ranging
from machine vision on silicon to smart cameras. Participants include
experts and students. Intended outcomes of WASC should be:
- Getting to know better people in the field and consolidate a community
- Sharing and exchanging work results with sparring partners
- Gaining confidence in your one own's work
- Generating options for European (and global) collaborations
- Setting up joint projects or joint approaches

The workshop offers ample time for discussions as there are no time
limits for the presentations, they last until the last question.
The breaks are comfortably long. Moreover, the workshop is fully free
and no membership of any organization is required.
WASC is an event sponsored by the ITN ACHIEVE European project.
It is strongly encouraged for all participants to present their
latest work or thoughts in a presentation. Apart from ongoing and
finished work, discussions on unfinished work, challenges or ideas are welcomed!
One can also register (for free) to simply attend. Organizers will invite
selected abstracts for publication in a special issue of the Springer
Journal of Signal Processing Systems (JSPS).

Topics of interest include:
- Architectures for image understanding, sound recognition, and
other sensory modalities
- Signal and image processing architectures
- Configurable and FPGA-based perception architectures
- Parallel architectures and algorithms for smart camera
- Smart sensors and sensor fusion
- VLSI perception systems
- Embedded use of perception systems
- Architectural performance evaluation
- Distributed processing for perception systems
- Languages, software environments and programming tools
- Vision and multisensor perception
- Architectures and protocols for camera networks
- Embedded vision programming
- Deep learning in embedded vision

Demonstrations are also well received. For presenting or demonstrating,
a submission of a one-page abstract/summary proposal with title, the
presenters' name and affiliation and possibly other authors should be done.
Please indicate if you want to setup a demonstration by sending an email
to mpelcat@insa-rennes.fr.

The participant shall only take care of housing and transportation.
Meals and coffee breaks are invited and registration is free of charge.
To participate in the workshop, registration is mandatory and subject to
seat availability.

Submission of proposal and/or demo: June, 21st 2019
-Registration deadline: June 21st, 2019
-The workshop is scheduled on July 1st and July 2nd, 2019.
