TC Meeting at the CVPR 2020 Virtual Conference

TC Meeting at the CVPR 2020 Virtual Conference

Please plan to join us online for our annual PAMI TC meeting during
CVPR. Instead of a synchronous virtual meeting with that many people
scattered all around the world in different timezones, we will instead
have an asynchronous one. All of the presentations that would normally
occur during the TC meeting will be in online form prior to the start
of the CVPR’s main meeting. Instead of in-person discussion, we
will use an online discussion board that will be open throughout the
main meeting. Given the circumstances, we are intentionally trying to
limit voting to only those things we need to vote on, primarily future
meeting locations and teams. Voting will be done using the normal
electronic voting site we’ve used for several years now, with the
results announced online shortly after. Please watch the CVPR pages
for more information about how to access the TC meeting materials and
discussion.

For ICCV 2025, we have received two proposals, both for organizing the
meeting in China. One proposal is to hold it in Xi’an, and the
other is to hold it in Shenzhen. Copies of the proposals will be
distributed ahead of the TC meeting, and we will vote on this at
CVPR. [Voting on ICCV 2025 at this year’s CVPR was proposed and
approved at ICCV 2019 as we transition to a six-year planning window
for future meetings.]

For CVPR 2025, we did not receive any complete proposals, but one team
is still working on putting together a meeting to be held in
Washington, DC. The ongoing pandemic has made it difficult for
convention centers, hotels, and meeting planners given the uncertain
outlook. We will not vote on a specific location or team at this
year's CVPR, but we do plan to put forward a motion authorizing the
conference's steering committee to do one of the following: 1)
approve this location/team, 2) choose another location and put
together an organizing team (which the charter permits if no proposals
are received), or 3) defer selection for CVPR 2025 until the 2021
meeting.

There will also be non-binding poll questions to help guide organizing
teams for future meetings.
