PAMI TC Meeting at Virtual CVPR

PAMI TC Meeting at Virtual CVPR

Thank you to everyone who participated in the virtual TC meeting held
in conjunction with this year’s CVPR. While it clearly wasn’t
the same as being together in person, the discussions seemed to be
useful ones. Please plan to join us next year when we can again all
meet together.

As discussed at the meeting and sent out ahead of time, we are moving
to an organizational model that has separate steering committees for
each of our co-sponsored meetings (IEEE/CVF). For WACV, the steering
committee will work closely with our meeting planners to choose
meeting locations, and they will appoint key members of each meeting's
organizational committee. For CVPR, the steering committee will also
work closely with our meeting planners to secure locations as far in
advance as we need to given our growth, but the plan is for the
community to still play a role in choosing the organizational teams.
For ICCV, our process will stay the same for this year’s selection
of ICCV 2027 (see the Call for Proposals below), but moving forward
the process will change. For all of these meetings, organizing
volunteers and venue recommendations are welcome. Our current
executive committee / steering committee will serve as an advisory
board, with several of the members invited to serve on individual
steering committees as their time permits. Consistent with IEEE
terminology, the TC chair, vice chair, and other officers will serve
as the executive committee and handle day-to-day matters.

We are pleased to see that proposed initiatives to expand diversity
and inclusion in our meetings were approved. While we still have a
ways to go, hopefully these are steps in the right direction.
