Call for bids to host ICPR 2026

Guidelines for Organising and Bidding to Host the International
Conference on Pattern Recognition (ICPR)

Call for bids to host ICPR 2026

Deadline: May 1, 2022

The International Conference on Pattern Recognition (ICPR) is the
major scientific event organised under the auspices of the
International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR). The aim of
this conference is to bring together international experts to share
their work and experiences and to promote research and development in
Pattern Recognition.

The conference is hosted by an institution under the auspices of an
endorsing IAPR member organisation (national pattern recognition
society). Any such institutions interested in making a proposal to
host an ICPR must proceed according to the rules outlined in the
latest version of the guidelines.

It has been the tradition that the location of ICPR conferences
follows a rotating schedule among different continents. Hence,
proposals from Europe are strongly encouraged. However, high quality
bids from other locations will also be reviewed for consideration.

NOTE: the Bidding and Hosting Guidelines have recently been revised as
two separate documents. The content has also changed from previous
versions. It is important for prospective hosts to carefully read both
documents.

The submission of a bid implies full agreement with the guidelines and
procedures for hosting the conference as well as with the IAPR
constitution.

Deadlines and Decisions:

Bids to host ICPR 2026 must be submitted to the Chair of the IAPR
Conferences and Meetings Committee (C&M) by May 1, 2022.

The selection of the conference venue will be made by the IAPR
Governing Board (GB) during its meeting at ICPR 2022 in Montreal,
Quebec, Canada.

Institutions interested in organising ICPR 2026 should submit the bid
to C&M Chair Elisa Barney Smith (EBarneySmith@boisestate.edu) by May
1, 2022.

A Note to Professional Conference Organizers

Proposals to host the International Conference on Pattern Recognition
(IAPR's main conference) come from the leaders of one or more of our
member societies, which are located all around the world.

The leaders of the proposal make their own decision whether to engage
with a Professional Conference Organizer. If they wish, PCO's can
reach out to the leaders of the relevant members societies to ask
whether they are planning an ICPR hosting bid.

ICPR normally uses a geographic rotation scheme, although this is
never guaranteed. The final decision about the location of an ICPR is
made by vote of the IAPR Governing Board.
