Green Foundation Models Call for Papers
1st Workshop on Green Foundation Models - ECCV2024@Milano
Please find below the call for papers regarding our workshop on Green
Foundation Models in conjunction with ECCV2024@Milano.
Scope: Foundation models, trained on internet-scale data, have
significantly revolutionized our approach to solving problems in both
Computer Vision and Natural Language Processing. Despite the exciting
progress, developing foundation models requires large compute
resources, incurring heavy environmental costs. For instance, CLIP
reports the use of hundreds of GPUs and LLaMA-2 family reportedly led
to an emission of 539 tCO2eq, requiring about 27k trees in one year to
capture those emissions! To curb this detrimental impact on our
environment, the first-ever workshop on Green Foundation Models
(GreenFOMO) @ECCV2024 will bring researchers from academia and
industry to discuss and promote novel methodologies for efficient
pre-training of foundation models and their exploitation in downstream
tasks with little to no training effort. GreenFOMO also welcomes works
in domains that induce green impacts, such as biodiversity,
agriculture, food security, etc. We believe that GreenFOMO will boost
momentum around emerging research areas, promoting an inclusive AI
ecosystem that supports small and medium-sized enterprises, academic
labs, and practitioners who are dedicated to making a positive
environmental impact on society.
Topics:
Training-free methods
Parameter efficient fine-tuning
Model compression and pruning
Token reduction
Light-weight models
Personalization of VLMs
Uni-(multi-)modal reasoning
Continual/transfer learning
Novel applications for sustainability/biodiversity
Submission Deadline: July 12th 23:59, 2024, Anywhere on Earth
