We are pleased to announce the SignRec Contest 2025, a scientific
competition aimed at advancing the field of sign language recognition
through the development of models capable of transferring knowledge
from isolated sign language data to continuous signing scenarios.

The contest is organized within CAIP 2025 conference and is open to
research groups, academic institutions, and industry teams working in
the areas of computer vision, machine learning, natural language
processing, and assistive technologies.

Challenge Description

Participants are invited to design and implement methods that
recognize Italian Sign Language (LIS) signs in continuous video
streams, having been trained solely on isolated sign examples. This
reflects a realistic low-resource setting and poses challenges in
temporal segmentation, sequence modeling, and semantic understanding.

Dataset

A novel and curated dataset of Italian Sign Language will be provided, including:

Over 16,800 isolated sign videos, each annotated with:

        Italian gloss

        Semantic category

        Pose estimation keypoints

        Frame-level metadata

A continuous sign dataset for evaluation

JSON and CSV metadata files to facilitate training and inference

Access to the dataset is granted upon email request to the organizers,
including the name of the participating team.

Submission Instructions

Participants must submit the following materials via email by 15 June 2025:

The trained model and all supporting scripts

A test.py file capable of processing the input data and generating predictions

A test.ipynb Colab notebook with installation and execution instructions

A brief technical report (template provided) or optionally a full contest paper

Contest papers are strongly encouraged and can be submitted to CAIP
2025 (paper submission deadline: 10 July 2025). Submitted papers must
also be sent to the contest organizers via email.
